Byte Terms of Use
Last updated 25 September 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and All Bark (“we”, “us”), the maker of Byte. By creating an account or using the app you agree to them. If you don’t agree, please don’t use Byte.
If you got Byte from the App Store, Apple’s Standard End User License Agreement also applies. Where the two differ, these terms govern your relationship with us, and Apple’s govern your relationship with Apple.
Your account
- You must be at least 13 to use Byte.
- Keep your sign-in details to yourself. You’re responsible for what happens under your account.
- You can delete your account at any time from Tag. What that removes is described in our Privacy Policy.
The subscription
Byte requires a paid subscription, billed through your Apple ID. The price, billing period and any free-trial length are shown in the app before you confirm.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each period unless you turn off auto-renew at least 24 hours before the period ends. Your Apple ID is charged for the next period within the 24 hours before it begins.
- Free trials. If a trial is offered and you don’t cancel at least 24 hours before it ends, it converts to a paid subscription and you are charged. Any unused part of a trial ends when you buy a subscription.
- Cancelling. Manage or cancel in your device’s Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Cancelling stops the next renewal; you keep access until the end of the period you’ve paid for. Deleting the app or your Byte account does not cancel the subscription.
- Refunds. Apple handles all payments, so refund requests go to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. We can’t issue refunds ourselves.
- Price changes. If the price changes, Apple will tell you in advance and, where required, ask you to agree before you’re charged the new price.
Connecting a bank
Bank connections are provided by Plaid. When you connect an account, you also agree to Plaid’s End User Privacy Policy. Your bank sign-in details go to Plaid, never to us. Each subscription includes up to 5 bank connections at a time; you can remove one to add another. Bank data can be delayed or incomplete depending on your bank, and we can’t guarantee every institution is supported.
Receipts and your content
You own the receipts you upload and the data in your account. You give us permission to store and process them to run Byte for you, including sending receipt images to our processing partners as described in the Privacy Policy. Only upload receipts you have the right to share.
Receipt reading is automated and sometimes gets things wrong — a price, a quantity or an item name. Check anything that matters to you against the original receipt.
Not financial advice
Byte helps you see and organise your spending. It is not a bank, and nothing in it is financial, tax, legal or investment advice. Totals, budgets and price comparisons are estimates to help you decide, not guarantees — community prices in particular reflect what other people paid, not what a store will charge you.
Fair use
Please don’t:
- try to access other people’s accounts or data, or our systems beyond the app’s normal use;
- reverse engineer, scrape, overload or interfere with the service;
- upload anything unlawful, or anything that isn’t a receipt, to game the service or other users’ community prices;
- resell or share access to your subscription.
We may suspend or close accounts that break these rules. If we close your account without cause, we’ll tell you, and you can request a copy of your data first.
Changes to Byte and to these terms
Byte will change over time — features may be added, changed or removed. If we change these terms we’ll update the date at the top, and tell you in the app if the change is significant. Continuing to use Byte after a change means you accept the updated terms.
Disclaimers and liability
Byte is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we don’t promise it will be uninterrupted, error-free or fit for a particular purpose, and we aren’t liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for decisions you make based on information in the app. Our total liability to you for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for Byte in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer-protection laws that can’t be waived.
